NEWS

6-25-09: The Riverside Park concert has been confirmed: Sunday August 16 at 2pm.  Most likely location is the overlook by 116th street.  More details to come!

6-21-09: The rain has forced us to cancel in Morningside Park.  Apologies!

5-29-09: The roster is complete.  The new resource site is up for those who want to know more about the repertoire.  Rehearsal starts Tuesday!

5-21-09: Another concert added: Tuesday August 25 at 6pm in Bryant Park.  Very exciting!  More details to follow.

4-24-09: The 2009 season is getting underway.  Auditions are May 26 and 28.  Rehearsals are Tuesdays this year, starting June 2. Concert 1, in Morningside Park, coincides with MakeMusicNY on June 21, which we're very excited about.  That'll be at 3pm.  We also have a concert scheduled on July 12 at 2pm in Washington Square Park.  More are in the works.  The new repertoire (tentative at this point) is up as well.  Importantly, we also have a new board whose info will appear here before too long.  Hope to see you at a show or two!

2-17-09: I'm woefully late in posting the news of the loss of our manager and trombonist Debra Silver and her friend, sometime percussionist and frequent crew member Dan Tedlie.  Go to our memorial page to see our full tribute to them.  This is a very sad time for Columbia Summer Winds, and we send our condolences to her friends and family.

directions: enter Teachers College (120th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam) at the Arthur Zankel Building.  Show your ID to the security guard and go straight ahead through the door, down the stairs around the elevator, and through the double doors at the bottom of the stairs.  Go right down the long basement corridor, around a bend and through another set of doors, until you reach another elevator, which you will take up to 4.  Exit left, and 435 is the last room on the right.

OLD NEWS

2008

8-6-08: That's all for this summer.  Thanks to all who helped this season!  Special mention to David Seltzer who provided several new photos. There are several other updates to the site, including a new links page.

7-29-08: The Damrosch concert has been moved to Washington Square Park, same time, same place as the previous WSP concert.

7-9-08: Added details for the concert at Old First Church.  There are many ways to get there!

6-22-08: Today's Morningside Park concert has been canceled due to the nasty weather forecast.  We are currently working on coming up with a rain date, which will most likely be after the 4th of July.

6-6-08: We've scheduled another concert.  We'll be at Old First Church on 7th Avenue and Carroll Street in
Park Slope, Brooklyn at 8pm on Wednesday evening, July 16.  This will be a rare indoor appearance for us, unique also in that it will be on a weeknight!  It will be free and open to the public.  More details will follow as they arrive.

5-23-08: Announcing our partnership with the Manhattan Wind Ensemble.  We are joining forces for the summer, forming one giant band with four conductors and almost 80 members!
